Cake Guidelines

All the guidelines below describe our “standard” guidelines. Some partners will make a specific request such as a smaller cake, in that case, it is perfectly fine to deviate from these standards.

Size and Shape Guidelines

Nine Inches - Round Cake - Two Layers

Ingredients

No Nuts! (See food safety policy)

Homemade cake recipe or a modified box cake mix

Homemade frosting (basic buttercream recipe)

Packaging and delivery

Before baking your cake, call the partner to confirm the cake is still needed, as well as to confirm delivery time/instructions.

Cake should be placed on a cake round.

Package in a pastry box or wrap in cellophane wrapping with a bow.

Affix a Community Cakes baker card to the packaged cake to ensure proper delivery.

Deliver to the recipient by 11:00 am unless otherwise specified by the partner.

Remember, do not give any gifts with the cake, the cake is the gift! Cards and candles are okay.

Remember to keep track of your receipts and expenses, as your purchases can be treated as a donation for tax purposes.
