Frequently Asked Questions - Partners

How do I become a partner?

Answer: Community Cakes would love to invite new partners, we are always looking for new people to bake for. Submit an application here. After we have received your application, our board will review and contact your organization.

How do I submit a cake request?

Answer: Submit a cake request here. Please be sure to submit cake requests by the 15th of each month. Once Community Cakes receives the requests they will be listed for our bakers to claim. Provide as much information as possible to ensure the recipient gets a special cake designed just for them.

How do I edit a cake I requested?

Answer: A receipt of your response will be automatically delivered to the email address provided. There will be a link in the email to edit a cake request (click Edit Response in the email). Notify the board if cakes need to be edited after the 15th.

I submitted a cake request in error, or for a cake I no longer need. How do I delete my request?

Answer: Promptly email the board at communitycakesidaho@gmail.com with the date and name of the recipient so that we may remove your cake request.

We have a new employee who needs to enter cake requests - how do they get a new account?

Answer: Our partners do not need specific log-in information to request cakes. Partners will receive a passphrase which will be used to gain access to the request form. Don’t have the passphrase? Email the board at communitycakesidaho@gmail.com and someone will respond with the current passphrase.

The contact information located on the partner page (communitycakes.org/partners) is incorrect. How do we get it updated?

Answer: Please fill out a request form here [https://forms.gle/nJfrcYuHqeiecjCy9] and our board will promptly update the website with the proper contact information.

How do I know if the cakes I’ve requested have been claimed?

Answer: Visit the Community Cake SignUp page to view the current status of this month’s cakes.

A cake I’ve requested hasn’t been claimed by a baker, what do I need to do now?

Answer: Community Cakes makes every effort to ensure that a cake is provided for every recipient. However, our bakers are all volunteers so we cannot guarantee that every request will be filled. If a baker has not signed up we do ask that you make other accommodations for your recipient.

We received a cake that wasn’t quite up to the Community Cakes standards, what do I do?

Answer: We strive to make sure our bakers are creating quality home-baked cakes. If you do receive a cake that isn’t up to your expectations, please send the board an email at communitycakesidaho@gmail.com so we can help to resolve this situation.

What is the application process to be a Community Cakes Baker?

Answer: We do our best to make sure our bakers are helping towards our mission. After volunteers have completed the online application, they must attend our New Baker Orientation. After the Orientation, the volunteer is paired with another volunteer Ambassador to set up a home visit appointment, during which they are expected to have baked a sample cake, and the volunteer ambassador will review the Community Cakes Policies and Procedures with the volunteer. The ambassador will approve the new baker and then they'll be ready to start baking!

Where can I see examples of the cakes that Community Cakes Bakers have made?

Answer: The cakes baked by Community Cakes Bakers come in all shapes and sizes. Examples of some of the cakes that have been baked can be found under the ‘Cake Gallery’ link of this website.

What is the Community Cakes food safety policy?

Answer: Download policy.

A cake recipient has a food allergy, do your bakers accommodate special requests?

Answer: All of our bakers are volunteers, baking from their own homes. While we do ask our bakers to avoid nuts, we simply cannot guarantee any specific dietary restrictions or allergens. Our bakers will make every effort to bake your special requests, but ultimately up to our bakers’ discretion.
